Know Your Farmer

One of my most vivid and cherished memories as a young boy is of spending time in the backyard garden with my Father. I remember specifically my amazement at the magic and wonder when Pops taught me how to pull a carrot out of the ground. I was stunned and amazed that I had just planted a seed the size of a pinhead just weeks before. "It’s magic", I thought. I did not know food could taste SO good and that I could, with a little time, effort and the help of the good Earth, "MAKE" food. My Father told me that with time, patience and attention, I could grow the best food right in my yard. His Father taught him that same lesson and it gives my spirit great pleasure to be able to continue to repeat this magic trick over and over, creating amazing real, wholesome, fresh, and delicious food for my community.

Employment for the 2021 Growing Season

We seek motivated individuals to join our farming team for 2021. Experience in vegetable production is desired, however we are willing to train the right candidates. Experience with outdoor labor positions such as landscaping or construction is beneficial. People who are physically fit and truly enjoy working outside, capable of working long days, and can work well in challenging weather and temperatures are a must. If you have trouble with physical exertion or struggle dealing with heat, rain, cold or adverse weather this is NOT for you. Those with excellent communication skills and above all a staunch work ethic are sought. Those individuals who seek to join our crew are available to work every week through the season. Although we try to accommodate schedules, we cannot continue working with someone who needs many days off during the season, there is just too much to do in a short amount of time.

If you have experience with and have been comfortable on a landscape crew and you are looking for a physically and mentally challenging and very rewarding job focused on vegetable and local food production then we would like to talk to you. We are a growing company and are looking for key people who share our vision, desire and goals of providing food to our local community.  All employees must have reliable transportation to and from the farm, be able to lift 50lbs repeatedly and be able to work well alone as well as within a team.

To apply please email your resume and cover letter to office@pondymountainproduce.com or click here to apply on our FaceBook job page. Some of the positions have the ability to be done by the same person if more hours and longer term employment is desired.  Prior farming experience on a food production farm is a bonus, but not mandatory. We are willing to train and mentor the right people.
